Guild of Helina

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.

Razael Log 1

Once I heard from a wise man that it is very hard for evil to take hold of the unconsenting soul.

Whoever fights evil should be wary that in such process he does not become evil itself… but why not stare into hell itself when but a glance of it grants so much? Is it that by describing me as a “failed experiment,” that wizard was tapping more into his fear than into his common sense? Whatever the reason, I shall research this project x and that last stone that Fargo’s grandfather mentioned. I shall not be hiding within shadows nor shall I attack at a distance. I will find a way to make myself invulnerable to the council’s claws not by magic but through knowledge and politics. I will rise the ranks of the council until there is no one left but Malk. It is then that and I shall curb Malk not through politics… but through suffering and through the ripping of his soul. It is in this way that I will get my long due revenge. I now have two powerful allies to help me in such endeavor… Mephisto, the pit fiend, a prince of darkness and a duke of hell itself. He will become a key political role in my rise to power. I’ve yet to see the strengths of my second ally – he who walks behind Belock-. I’ll start communicating with him more to see his true power and intentions…

Blackstaff was weak. He was just but one step before gaining true power. It is the folly of putting one’s needs before the others’ that became his undoing. I won’t make this same mistake. Tapping into his book, and thus, his mind, will get me the necessary knowledge that I need in order to become a TRUE NECROMANCER.

So was my father right? Is it hard for evil to take hold of the unconsenting soul? Yes, he was right, but why be unconsenting? Why not embrace evil and the power that comes with it? I will make evil my ally and the pools of souls that I rip my playgrounds, and I shall not rest until death itself bows before me…

In the meantime, I shall research project x, the last stone, and what the number 13 means in the hourglass symbol. Detect scrying might prove useful to mislead my comrades regarding Keelly’s death… just to be safe, I’ll also clean the magic weave of any traces of that sacrifice, in both my and Keelly’s location when it happened.

Keely Log 1

Being resurrected from the dead, takes it tole on a persons mental state. Keely with the permission of the group, decides to make a journey home. She plans to spend some time with her sisters to mourn Effy, get herself together and then rejoin the group because of her immense debt she owes them for bringing her back from death itself. She sets out and makes it back to the temple. Keely acknowledges that Gozreh is watching over her and that she was brought back for a reason and not merely because the group had enough money to pay for a Resurrection.

A proper funeral couldn’t be held because there was no body for them to burn at sea, but there was Effy’s belongings that would suit the ceremony just fine. A few possessions were saved. Effy’s journal. The journal chronicles her journey journey for the past 2 years with the Guild of Helena. There is information about all who are in the party except for recent members, Razeal, Caanen, Pilar and Fargo. Another item that survived the explosion was the dragon tooth that Effy wore around her neck. Keely held onto that. After the ceremonies and the mourning of Effy. The sisters try to move on with their lives at the temple.

Sireen.jpg

Keely finds out that since she’s been gone, Sireen has become an elder in the Temple, at age 32, she’s become the youngest elder at the temple. Among the 3 other elders. Mars, Nessa and Silvia, who were respectfully in their 50s and 60s. There had been some controversies among the council members of the temple in electing Sireen to become an Elder, but she had shown that she’s is both physically, mentally and spiritually ready to take on the title and lead a new generation of monks in their respective areas of practice to live a life of peace and harmony among their sisters and the surrounding village and with nature.

Since Keely’s been gone, a group of Dire Bears have moved into the surrounding territories. A few have wandered to the temple. However, the Dire Bears were met with kindness and the monks quickly domesticated the Dire Bears. There are several Dire Bears that wander the temple grounds now and guard the temple from intruders. Their domestication isn’t without incident however, these bears are still quick to anger and unpredictable to outsiders. But they are kind to the monks at the temple.

The pirate related attacks on the temple and the surrounding villages have become more frequent. The monks have been out in full force defending the surround towns and villages lately. Keely acknowledges she’s needed here, but knows her debt needs to be paid. She also remembers what the old dwarf with the pipe said to her. That a powerful sorcerer would be coming from the seas with a large fleet, and they would wash away everything in their path. This was to happen only in a a half a years time. Keely warned the elders at her temple and the elders were confused. Did they not make a deal with Captain Rollen that if the temple took in Sireen and his daughters that they would protect the temple and the surrounding towns from pirate attacks. It seems as if this deal was broken.

Mars, Silva and Nessa knew of this deal and were the ones who actually struck the deal with Sireen and Kain 30 some years ago. They don’t want this information to be known to the rest of the temple because they don’t want to lose their political influence or be questioned about why they were striking deals with pirates or have to potentially step down. They conspire against Sireen to strip her of her title and power so that she might not get close to finding out the truth.

Meanwhile. Keel’s sisters and the rest of the monks prepare for a battle against an enemy they don’t know. And they send word to the surrounding villages/ towns and neighboring kingdoms for help in the battle in a half a years time, enough time to gather a navy and army. Will their plea for help be answered. Surely when the Sorcerer comes, he will be caught off guard and perish, or he will destroy everything in his wake. The monks in the temple go out into the surrounding towns and help them prepare for a battle. Many civilians flea for higher lands, some stay to defend their homes and some stay because they think the a vision from a pipe smoking dwarf is silly. Who is he and why should they care. Altogether there are 143 monks uncluding the sisters, from the temple. and with the 2 neighboring towns had a respectful 200 people whom stayed. They comprised of abled bodied men, woman, and even some elderly and children. 343 altogether prepare for the encroaching darkness.

Amongst the preparations, a crazy blind man named Fang, wanders into the Village of Sonston.

Keely decides that they could use the help of the guild and ventures off again to go repay her debts and persuade them to come to the aid of her temple. Besides, the booty from all the pirate ships, surely will be plenty payment if they win.

Sangrai's Log 1

Chapter 2
These events happen thirty days before the start of the new campaign

1. Visit to Lady Maas

“Oh, aren’t you from Guild of Helena? Welcome, son.” The cheerfulness of Lady Maas’ voice only makes Sangrai nervous. She invites him inside and keeps talking on their way to her office room.

“Did you have dinner yet?” They climbs up the stairs. “We can have tea instead. How about chamomile and some lemon cake? What’s your name again? Sangrai, what is your first name, boy?”

Sangrai only answers in polite, but short sentences.

Under the dim light of the room, Sangrai can see Lady Maas’ eyes becoming glassy. They are sitting in her office. Paintings of cats and heavy drapery filled the walls. Half eaten lemon cake and empty cups of tea are sitting on top of a disorganized table. Sangrai clears his throat and waits as she compose herself. There’s no sound in the room, excepts for the wind outside.

He just told her about the mission; how Blackstaff was controlled by an organization called Black Hats, that two of his comrades perished, and how they freed Blackstaff’s soul.

“Lady Maas, the last thing he mentioned was you.” Sangrai says. He gets up from his seat, slightly irritated because his clothes is now covered in cat’s fur. Sangrai pulls out the wedding band from his bag of holdings and places it in Lady Maas’ hand. “Our guild didn’t manage to bring him back. But perhaps, you want to keep this. I’m sure you can recognize this item. It’s-”

“-our wedding band.” Lady Maas finishes his sentence. She clutches it and starts crying as Sangrai stands there awkwardly. He pities her and hands her a handkerchief. “I wish I could see him one more time…just to say goodbye.” Lady Maas sobs.

Sangrai’s attempt at comforting Lady Maas is to sigh and rolls his eyes; and then he places a stiff hand on her shoulder. “I’m very sorry for your lost.” he says, partly out of courtesy. She bursts out in tears and cries harder; Sangrai quickly let go off his hand.

It is an ugly cry and Sangrai just stares at the floor, trying to zone out and pretend he’s somewhere else. After minutes, she finally stops and looks up to him. “Thank you.” She whispers.

He is somehow surprised by her words, but quickly sits back. “-We charged you sixty thousand gold for this mission, but we failed to bring him back. How much you want to pay us, I leave it up to you.”

“I understand.” She smiles weakly at him and hands him his handkerchief back.

“Keep it.” Sangrai says. He can see fluids dripping from it. “Please.”

Sangrai steps outside Lady Maas’ house; his guild is now fifteen thousand gold richer.
